Maple Butcher Block Countertops

Maple Butcher Blocks look fabulous finished in our standard Durakryl 102 finish or you may opt to have the block oiled for a very traditional look.

Solid Northern Hard Maple Butcher Block tops are as beautiful as they are functional. While you enjoy the soft grain and subtle color variations of your top you also can use it as a true cutting surface. Coated with an acrylic finish, DURAKRYL 102, which requires little or no maintenance these tops bring together the warm texture and feel of solid wood and the durability and longevity of a solid surface. The surface is completely food safe

It is not necessary to sand off this finish prior to using the top, as it is approved for food service use. The finish is formulated to repel most household solvents. Stains can be cleaned off with finger nail polish remover or bleach -- neither of these two substances can hurt the finish. Although the finish is durable, it will scratch and using the surface as a cutting board will degrade the finish. The wonderful feature of butcher block is that a light sanding of the effected area and an application of "Good Stuff" brings the block back to its original condition. Because the block is solid through and through you can rest assured that the nicks, dings and dents that life puts into the block can be repaired with simple techniques. This assures you that the appearance of your countertop can be maintained for years to come.

See the table below for the numerous sizes that are ready for immediate shipment. These standard sized tops are produced in large numbers, placed in our warehouse and will be shipped out quickly throughout the world. Selecting a standard top is your most economical solution. Because the details of each top remain consistent, we produce the tops in large runs. We are then able to pass substantial cost savings onto our customers.

The standard top will be 25", 30" or 36" deep and in a variety of lengths (see below). The Standard top comes with square edges and corners, is 1 1/2" thick and of "Edge Grain Construction". The most intriguing part of ordering a standard top is that while the details of the top are consistent because this is a natural material each top is completely unique. The combination of grain and color comes together slightly differently in each block making each one completely unique. The fascinating thing about this is that while each block retains a character of its own they also blend nicely with other blocks used in other parts of the Kitchen

Clean the top like you would any counter surface, not allowing water to remain on the block for any length of time. Most household cleaners are acceptable for use on the countertops.

A common question is whether or not you can cut on the standard Durakryl 102 finish. The answer is, yes, of course! The finish is considered food safe. The issue with cutting on this finish is that you will quickly degrade the appearance of the block. If your goal is to maintain the look of your block for many years please look into purchasing one of our fine cutting boards to place on top of your countertop.

While our standard sized tops are the most economical and most readily available we also offer the blocks built to your specifications. We commonly create butcher blocks 1 1/4", 1 3/4", 2 1/4" and 3" thick. While not as quickly available as our standard butcher block, these blocks can be made in a reasonable time frame. The overall footprint is completely up to you. Additionally, if you require a block in a thickness or in a size different from those listed above, we can make the block to your thickness specifications up to 5".

Some of the most popular features available on these blocks are sink and cook top cut outs, mitered corners, special edge profiles and full-length laminations. Please contact a dealer near you for pricing information.
